Sweet Potato Brownies? How Will They Know?
I bet you are skeptical of my Amazing Sweet Potato Brownies. Sure, they are filled with healthy stuff, but they probably taste a little off. No sense making something that doesn’t even curb my craving! WRONG!
You are going to absolutely FLIP when you taste these. They are sweet, slightly gooey, and perfectly chocolaty. I literally fed these to some unsuspecting family members and they had no idea that they weren’t the real deal. Bottom line is, if you are going to eat a brownie or two, eat these!
Not Just Empty Calories
Most brownies are eaten for pleasure. I am a fan of doing this from time to time! But what if you could eat a brownie….for pleasure….and it was truly healthy….like….there is nothing bad in them. Nothing. I named them Amazing Sweet Potato Brownies because that is what they are, AMAZING!
These brownies are adapted from a recipe I’ve eaten now for a while. You can find the original recipe HERE. It is a great recipe, but I wanted to see if I could tweak it to make it completely healthy without sacrificing taste. It worked! The proof? The entire pan was gone by the end of the night.

- Sweet Potatoes
- almond butter (use seed butter for allergies)
- cocoa powder
- date paste (recipe Here: Date Paste)
- organic whole wheat flour
- applesauce
- baking powder
- vanilla extract
- salt
- dairy free chocolate chips
See anything bad in that list? If I’m gonna be picky, I could say there is a little sugar in the chocolate chips, but there is only 1/2 cup in the whole recipe! These are great for you!
Best of all they are nutritious and not just filled with empty calories. They pack in 5 grams of protein as well as 5 grams of fiber. Plus they are full of potassium and antioxidants from the sweet potatoes. A win for the whole family!
So Easy To Make
These Amazing Sweet Potato Brownies are so fast to whip up. Everything is done in one bowl. Just add ingredients, mix and bake! I use some parchment paper underneath so I have no need for oil. Super easy to clean up. Sounds like a dream doesn’t it?? I thought so too but it is all true!

Fudgy Sweet Potato Brownies
Equipment
- 1 8X8 pan
- mixing bowl
Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes mashed (about 1½ cups)
- ½ cup almond butter
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ¾ cup date paste
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- ½ cup organic whole wheat flour
- 2 Tbsp applesauce
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup dairy free chocolate chips (divided)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400° F.
- Add all ingredients to a bowl using only ¼ cup of the chocolate chips.
- Stir to combine.
- Line an 8X8 baking dish with parchment paper.
- Spoon batter into baking dish and sprinkle with remaining ¼ cup chocolate chips.
- Bake at 400°F for 35 minutes.
- Allow to cool for about 1 hour before cutting.
